The center for Scientific Research and Middle East strategic Studies was established in February 1988 in Tehran. Besides looking into the theoretical aspects of International Relations, this center is in fact the first institute in Iran that has focused its studies and research on the various aspects of the Middle East. From an academic point of view, the creation of such a specialized center was highly necessary since the Middle East is the most immediate and the most significant geographic, historical, cultural and security region relevant to Iran's National interests
